Martin Thomas

Chief Executive Officer

Martin trained as a management accountant with GEC and Procter & Gamble during which time he occupied a variety of roles in the UK and France. As an early adopter of various packaged applications software solutions, he soon discovered that his real passion was more for technology than accountancy. In 1993 he made his first move into the business applications sector, selling MRP II and ERP solutions into mid-market manufacturing and distribution sectors. He led his first MBO in 1998 and went on to lead multiple subsequent MBI’s in the packaged applications sector. Along the way he successfully grew and exited 2 high growth start-up reseller businesses that he founded, in the upper mid-market and enterprise applications space.

Since 2011 Martin has freelanced in a variety of Executive and advisory roles, predominantly focussed on business development, M&A and corporate restructuring. He has extensive experience of business process enhancement and cultural change required to allow businesses to adopt new technologies and deliver true transformation. He speaks passionately about what he believes is an unnecessarily high number of failed IT projects, and regularly advises businesses that critically depend on IT, how to ensure that IT flexes to meet the needs of the customer, not the other way around.

Martin is an enthusiastic, but distinctly average, golfer. He’s broken far more bones falling off his mountain bike than off his skis, and he’s finally stopped stressing whether his beloved Liverpool would ever win the Premier League. He lives in the Cotswolds with his wife Loraine, their teenage son and 2 cats – and where he’s regularly assured that 1 household chore/week is child slavery.
